Pre-Architecture Year

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the pre-architecture year, both Arizona residents and out-of-state residents must declare the pre-architecture major on their application and must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • 1110 SAT Math & Critical Reading composite score, and/or
  • 24 ACT composite score

In addition, eligible applicants must also have completed the subject area requirements listed below.  If an applicant's grades or test scores do not meet the minimum requirements of The University of Arizona's Office of Admissions, but are very close, her/his records will be automatically referred to the School of Architecture.  The School, upon further consideration of  the student's high school course load and content, may approve admission to the pre-architecture year.   Please note that the School of Architecture does not require applicants to submit a portfolio for admission to the pre-architecture year.  Prospective students should apply online on the UA Office of Admissions website and specify pre-Architecture as their preferred major.

  • Social Sciences 2 units
  • Foreign Language 2 units
  • Fine Arts 1 units
