Details:
Ann Moss and Jerry Shapins present the Bernie and Irma Friedman Lecture, titled "Placemaking and Landscape Heritage: Parks, Trails and Public Spaces".
Enlighted by the teachings of Ian McHarg at the University of Pensylvania, Moss and Shapins are the founding principals of Sapins Associates where they have devoted their careers to developing creative and sustainable designs for parks, trails and public spaces. Intent on understanding and respecting the unique context of each project, Shapins Associates is well-regarded among clients and the public for their "adaptive" planning and design solutions for heritage sites, open spaces, regional tourism, streetscapes, downtowns, visitor facilities, wildlife refuges and natural preservation areas. Given the firm's sensitivity to context--including outlying communities and natural processes impacted by design--Shapins Associates' focus has also been public placemaking. Nationally recognized leaders in public sector planning and design, Shapins Associates is currently working on projects in Arizona, California, Wyoming, New York, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.
