Pre-Architecture Year

Students interested in architecture at The University of Arizona should indicate that they intend to pursue the “Pre-Architecture” major when they apply to the University.  Although a portfolio of design work is not required for entry to the Pre-Architecture phase of the B.Arch degree program, the School does have stringent academic requirements.  The minimum GPA and test scores needed for admission  are:

  • 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • 1110 SAT Math and Critical Reading composite score, and/or
  • 24 ACT composite score

The Pre-Architecture year features two design studio courses known as the Foundation Studios:  ARC 101 (fall semester) and ARC 102 (spring semester).  Due to the timing of  this sequence, the School recommends that students begin their work toward the B. Arch degree in the fall semester, and submit their applications for admission accordingly.
