Graduate

The graduate programs provide an important opportunity for qualified individuals to enter the field of architecture, to prepare for architectural registration, and, for practicing professionals, to advance their knowledge in specific fields of architecture. This mission is accomplished by means of a dual program of studies:  a three-semester post-professional Master's program for students with five-year degrees from accredited schools of architecture, and two professional M.Arch degree tracks for students holding four-year degrees in architecture (M. Arch II) or in other fields (M. Arch III).

General admission requirements of all graduate program applicants:

  • Completion of a four- or five-year architecture degree program substantially equivalent to the B.Arch program at The University of Arizona, or a four-year degree in a field other than architecture.
  • 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
  • For international applicants: a Internet-based TOEFL overall score of 90 and a score of 26 on the Speaking section. TOEFL scores must be dated within two years of the projected enrollment date at the U of A.
  • GRE:  Not required.

Applicants to any of the three graduate programs will be asked to submit the following materials:

  • Transcripts of all previous institutions attended (with official translations where necessary)
  • Degree certificates with official translations (international students)
  • Internet-based TOEFL scores, taken within two years of projected enrollment date (international students)
  • Personal statement
  • Résumé
  • Portfolio of creative work (pdf)

NOTE: Individuals who already have a master's degree in architecture are not eligible for admission to the graduate programs.
